The purpose of this blog (mostly) is to talk about and promote locally owned small businesses and support the "Buy Fresh Buy Local" ideal. Trader Joe's is a large chain, but we like it anyway and I'll tell you why.
Sometimes you can't get everything you need at the smaller farms & markets that we usually blog about (they tend to be seasonal). Sometimes you need a supermarket for convenience and value. Trader Joe's fills the gap between the two. It has everything you'll need, but it's physically smaller than most supermarkets. There just aren't as many options, but you don't need them. The products at TJ are high quality and value priced.
If you've never been there, you should go, it's fun to shop. They usually have samples in the back to try out. There's an interesting selection of unique and "exotic" foods. We recently got some tabbouli and chicken shu mai.
